Happy New Ye... Hi, this is ADT your alarm is going off. Shit.

We were getting ready at the hotel in Columbus tonight... getting ready to hit the town and party it up, when the cell phone rang. I didn't recognize the number... but when I answered it it was ADT telling us that the motion sensor in our living room was going off.

Kelly hit full panic mode in about 2 seconds and I optimistically stated that it as probably just the thunder-storm... either way, we packed up like madmen and drove back to Dayton at 90mph...

City of Dayton PD responded and checked the house out before we got home... it took us calling them once to have them check it out, and once to find out what they found.

Either way... we arrived home to find an empty, quiet, cold house. No burglars, just a slightly soggy basement.

I'll be calling ADT Wednesday to see what the hell the problem is.

El Vaquero... my old college stomping grounds.. when I was going to OSU me and the guys used to eat here a LOT. Kelly and I stopped in and had the New Years Eve special.. full sized fajitas for $9.99 with half price appetizers.

Kelly and I decided last minute to go to Columbus this weekend and celebrate new years in style. Whenever we're in Columbus we make sure to stop by the Fado's Pub at the Easton Mall to get a Black Velvet.. it's an equal mixture of Strongbow Cider and Guinness. We've tried a lot of combinations of Guinness and other ciders.. but nothing is as quite a perfect match as these two.

While out tonight we learned the secret of keeping the two beverages separate from each other... an upside down spoon. You pour the strongbow and let it sit.. and then tilt the glass, and pour the Guinness over the top of the upside down spoon, letting the beer trickle easily onto the top of the Strongbow.

ps -- how funny is it that strongbow's site is an implementation of dot net nuke?

Start of the new year.. start of a new blog, right? I created this account tonight and spent some time making it look how I want it to... I need to add a link bar at the top to the various pages and on the right to a few of my favorites.
